It has come to my attention these past few days that there is massive controversy over a student's *cough*Gary*cough* use of "The Lord's name in vain" in various classes; for example, a few of our favorite and widely-used phrases such as "Jesus Tapdancing Christ" and "Jesus Christ on a Cracker" and so on and so forth. Recently, many have complained about these euphamisms.
My main question is, are these really disrespectful? Why are they? And if they are, and they are in turned put to rest, then what could possibly replace these phrases? It seems that I can't go a school day without hearing (or saying, for that matter) "Jesus Tapdancing Christ."
"Adolph Waltzing Hitler" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
so...do it up...questions comments concerns and all that jazz...opinions on what side you take: Religious slur or innocent and catchy expression?

Think who we're talking about here. It's probably meant to be a little controversial. But I personally don't have a problem with it. He's not directly insulting Jesus, and while he is using "The Lord's name in vain", it's up to him to decide if he's okay with that.
With that philisophical crap out of the way, I'd like to add another couple names to the list of "not-as-funny-as-Jesus-Tapdancing-Christ" list: "Ed Breakdancing Kennedy" "John Galloping Kerry"

I think that there are some religious people that might take offense to it. I guess that it could be seen as a mockery of something that people feel really strongly about. Like when I say we should burn the rainforest. Some people go really crazy about that, too. It all depends on the group of people you're with. But if anybody is truly offended by it, they should say so. I'm surprised that there wasn't more complaining about it, to be honest...

The certain person, Paige, takes offense to it. Yet if Gary did anything else she would be dissapointed in him. For example, today he perscribed bong hits to her in Analysis. She was insulted and amused at the same time, thus is Paige. The important thing is that I take no offense to it. Come to think of it there isn't really anything I would take offense to. Oh yes, the point. Many things offend people, allow me to add to the list.
"hey shep, that floor clean" (i admire his work ethic and mopping speed) "MRS DUB! WHATS UP" (shes actually pretty cool, i guess ) "Strategery" (george bush is a moron, but i'd vote for him over kerry) "N*****" (generally un-called for) "F*** the police" (i stand by this one to the death) "sasquatch" ( " ) "god d***** gary" (same as jesus reference)
all these obscure quaboag references are just jokes, so who cares. Can't everyone walk through school in an emotionless, half asleep, zombie-like state?

add onto this:
Mr A didn't get my sense of humor and suspended me. I'll clear a thread dedicated to it with the Admin.
